Last week, I was in Chicago attending a workshop with Karen Hanmer and three other students. It had been a really long time since i had taken an in-person workshop. I had been looking forward to attending for most of the year and it gave me a ton of new bookbinding energy to bring back home with me.
Since I got back, it’s been a mad dash. I needed to complete an entry for the non-juried exhibit “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.” I learned that the books I had planned to re-bind wouldn’t work (books haven’t been sewn for longer than I thought!) so I had to pivot to a new idea. Since it is the first time mostly everyone in the Guild of Bookworkers will see any of my work, I decided to make something that would showcase all of the things I have been working on and my general “vibe.” Every component is made of flax and was either dyed or made (and marbled and dyed) by me.

I’ve also been updating this website and setting up various social media sites because it is time that I finally embraced having an online presence. I’m going to focus on this personal site and pixelfed.art, but I also signed up for instagram too since it’s more highly populated.
